I've been learning Python for a few months now, but hadn't used PyUnit yet. It turns out the unittest module ships with Python (since 2.1) and is somewhat integrated with PyDev, the Python IDE plugin for Eclipse, which I've been using. I found a useful intro to PyUnit at http://pyunit.sourceforge.net/pyunit.html and for more detailed reference material, I found http://docs.python.org/library/unittest.html valuable.
I was able to get the provided TextTestRunner working easily, but soon wondered about alternatives for formatting the results. After some searching, I found two projects that worked right out of the box and each is a good example of how to write a custom TestRunner. One generates a JUnit style XML file, while the other generates HTML.
